The competition involves 2,000 students in years 10 to 13, 300 barristers and advocates and 90 judges.
Students take on the roles of barristers and witnesses and present their case against teams from other schools. They become familiar with their cases and spend weeks in preparation, supported by a barrister mentor. Then they have to apply their skills in real courtrooms, in front of real judges.
Their performances are judged by Circuit Judges, Recorders (Sheriffs in Scotland) and senior barristers or advocates. Winning teams from regional heats then fight it out in a prestigious national final.
This year's worthy winner of the Inner London regional competition is Gumley House Convent School in Isleworth. Faisal Osman was their mentor throughout the process. They will now go on to the National finals in Edinburgh, in March 2015, where we hope their success continues!
