On 31 January 2013 the standard default terms on which barristers offered their services for many years were withdrawn by the Bar Standards Board.
These were replaced by The (new) Standard Contractual Terms for the Supply of Legal Services by Barristers to Authorised Persons 2012.
The (new) Standard Contractual Terms at Annex T to the Bar Code of Conduct have been adopted by all Chambers’ barristers in respect of all new instructions and continuing matters in which members have previously been instructed. These will apply to instructions from Solicitors and Authorised Persons who have been authorised by the Law Society or the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
