Christopher Convey instructed to represent one of the Credit Suisse Deal Team at trial in the claim between the Republic of Mozambique and Credit Suisse and Others

Instructed by Rupert Butler of Leverets, Christopher Convey of 33 Chancery Lane has been instructed to represent the third defendant, Surjan Singh, one of the three Credit Suisse Deal Team defendants in the multi-billion dollar fraud claim that commenced in the Commercial Court yesterday, 2nd October 2023. Mr Singh has denied all of the claims made against him.  The trial is the latest stage in the long-running proceedings involving the Republic of Mozambique, Credit Suisse, Privinvest, VTB Capital and others.  Whilst a number of the claims have been settled between various parties, including all of the Republic of Mozambique’s claims against Credit Suisse and the Credit Suisse Deal Team defendants, other claims, including those brought by Privinvest remain ongoing.  The trial is due to run until the end of the legal year.  The case is one of the largest trials ever to be heard before the Courts of England and Wales and featured in The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases for 2023.
