Christopher Convey successfully represents law firm at Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal

The Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) brought three misconduct complaints before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) against the city law firm CANDEY in relation to the receipt and onward payment of £24 million into its client account in June 2015. The monies were proceeds of an arbitration award and Court proceedings in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The SRA alleged that the firm had committed three breaches of the 2007 Money Laundering Regulations and as a result breached the solicitor’s Code of Conduct. The hearing of the charges before the SDT took place between 13th and 17th May 2024.

The SDT gave its decision on Friday 27th September 2024. It found all the allegations made by the SRA unproven and dismissed each of the charges against the firm.
