Confiscation success: Benefit figure reduced by 90%

Rachel Ferrari secured a 90% reduction in the benefit figure for her client. Mr H had been convicted of money laundering and conspiracy to supply cannabis.  The Prosecution calculated his total benefit as exceeding half a million pounds.

Through detailed written submissions and in-person negotiations, a final confiscation order was secured for less than £48,000.   

The proceedings involved complex accounting evidence, together with legal argument on the principles concerning joint benefit and the weight to be afforded to nuanced sentencing remarks.
