Kennedy Talbot KC acts in Balli Steel Fraud Confiscation proceedings

Kennedy Talbot KC, instructed by Dylan Moses and his team at K & L Gates, represented Nasser Alaghband in confiscation proceedings at Southwark Crown Court. Mr Alaghband had previously pleaded guilty to one count of fraudulent trading. Substantial losses were made by Balli Steel during a downturn in the steel market in 2012. From a starting point of the SFO valuing Mr Alaghband’s assets at almost £17m the defence team were able to secure a confiscation order of just over £100k. HHJ Hopmeier commented that he had never seen such a reduction.
