Martin Evans KC secures conviction in private prosecution

After a 4-week trial at Southwark, Martin Evans KC and the Edmonds Marshall McMahon (EMM) team secured a conviction against Bakhtiar Abbasi for Fraud, Forgery and False representations by a debtor. On 18th May, Abbasi received a sentence of 12 years’ imprisonment.

The offences related to a multi million pound property investment fraud involving high-end properties in Central London. A final count related to an insolvency offence in respect to a sham Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA).
