Martin Evans KC successfully applies for largest ever Property Freezing Order (PFO)
On 19th December 2023, Martin Evans KC, leading Tom Rainsbury (3VB), successfully applied in the High Court for a property freezing order under s.245A of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 against Ms Jian Wen and another over Bitcoin to the value of more than £2 billion pursuant to a civil recovery investigation. Martin and Tom were instructed by the CPS on behalf of the DPP. This is believed to be the largest amount ever frozen in under Part 5 of the Act. Further to the recent verdict in related criminal proceedings, this can now be reported.
