Investigation and Account Freezing Order (AFO) proceedings discontinued against gold-mining client

Sonn Macmillan Walker (“SMW”) represents a UK-registered Company involved in gold-mining in west Africa. The Company was being investigated by the Metropolitan Police and had a business account frozen under an Account Freezing Order (“AFO”). SMW instructed Penelope Small to advise them and the client in response to the investigation and AFO proceedings.

Comprehensive representations were made to the Metropolitan Police as to the Company’s gold-mining business activities and the Metropolitan Police has now confirmed that it will take no further action against the company director and it would not apply to extend the AFO or seek forfeiture of the credit balance.
